Artist, Adjunct Lecturer at NYU & Queens College

Currently, Katya is  teaching, studying, and making art. Katya is teaching Ideation and Prototyping with a focus on Human Centered Design at NYU’S Integrated Digital Media program and Web Design with a focus on user experience design at Queens College. She is also pursuing a Master’s degree in art and technology at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), where she uses traditional and emerging technologies to create work that examines people’s understanding of one another and their environment. Her focus is on sculpture, networked sound objects, audiovisual installation, socially engaged art, and speculative world-making.

On the activist side, Katya is looking for ways to combine socially engaged art practice with participatory design to improve agency in vulnerable communities and diversify ways in which people can collaborate for mutual benefit within and outside of existing systems.

Writer, Editor, Producer and Co-Host of Pop-Up Magazine

Aaron likes to tell stories in whatever way he can. He produces and co-hosts Pop-Up Magazine, a show that brings writers, photographers, filmmakers, and performers together for nights of live stories made for the stage. He has produced and directed shows at Lincoln Center, BAM, and theaters across the U.S. He was a founding editor of The Outline, where he led creative projects and hosted a daily podcast. He also spent a few years working on news technology, launching products like the BuzzFeed News App and reinventing breaking news alerts at NBC. He has written for The New York Times, VICE, The Associated Press, and other places. Forbes named him one of the 30 Under 30 in Media for 2018. He lives in Brooklyn.

Alicia writes, produces, edits,  directs, designs and illustrates pieces for print, for web and for video. She is a winner of the Edward R. Murrow award and the Punch Sulzberger Award for online storytelling, a Peabody and Emmy nominee, and has earned medals from the Society of Publication Design, Society of News Design, Malofiej, Online News Association, Online Journalism Awards, Deadline Awards and World Press Awards, amongst others. She holds a Ph.D. in literature from Columbia University.

Some of her diverse portfolio includes comics, illustrations, photo essays, maps and diagrams. She also created this Emmy-nominated video.

Computer Scientist, Voice Technologies at Adobe

Cameron practices, mentors on, and speaks about software development, Voice UI, and digital accessibility. He co-founded the Accessibility NYC Meetup and Camp, and his expertise in accessibility has been recognized by the White House. He earned his Master’s degree from NYU ITP.

In the past, Cameron has worked at Pivotal Labs, Aol Ventures, thoughtbot, and the Etsy Accessibility team. He then pushed the boundaries of Voice UI design at Sayspring, now part of Adobe.

The New School Professor, Emerging Media Creator/Researcher, Filmmaker

Sonja Bozic is a multi-award-winning filmmaker and professor. Serbian native and New York City based, she has edited, directed, and produced a wide range of video forms that have been screened at the festivals internationally, including the Cannes Film Festival, and she participated in the 2013 Tribeca Hackathon as part of Frontline/ProPublica team. Sonja was on the committee of organizers for the Media Festival at the 2009 NAB/BEA conference in Las Vegas. Sonja is currently teaching film editing and transmedia at the New School, New York City and transmedia at Montclair State University, New Jersey. She earned her Ph.D. in Transmedia Storytelling at Ohio University, where her transmedia research was nominated for the Trisolini Fellowship Award. She attended Producing Fundamentals Intensive at SPS NYU. Sonja is currently working on her VR project “Chocolate Milk,” an immersive exploration of a mind of a person with autism.
